Russian Military Expert Reveals Key Directions in the Ukraine Conflict

In a recent interview with “Lenta.ru,” retired Colonel Yuri Knutov, a military expert and director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, highlighted the current importance of Avdiivka and Marinka as key directions for the Russian army in the ongoing Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. Knutov explained that the current strategy of Russian forces involves advancing in some areas while defending in others, with roughly equal numbers of offensive and defensive sectors.

According to Knutov, the most crucial directions at present are Avdiivka, Marinka, and the southern flank of Artemivsk. He emphasized that the battles to liberate Avdiivka and Marinka are not aimed at advancing Russian troops but rather at securing Donetsk from artillery shelling. On the other hand, the fight for Artemivsk, which holds significant moral value, is characterized by active defense.

Earlier, Colonel Marcus Reisner of the Austrian army stated that the West is ready to acknowledge the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive. Furthermore, there have been suggestions in the State Duma to organize an exhibition showcasing NATO’s destroyed equipment.

This latest insight from Knutov sheds light on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the strategic importance of certain areas. It underscores the different objectives of Russian forces in Avdiivka, Marinka, and Artemivsk and provides a deeper understanding of the evolving situation. As the war continues, it remains crucial to closely monitor these key directions and their implications for the larger geopolitical landscape.
