The spokesperson for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lior Ben-Dor, has informed RIA Novosti that the main goal of the military operation in the Gaza Strip is to prevent all possible scenarios of terrorist attacks on Israeli territory. The representative of the ministry noted that negotiations with Palestine can only be resumed after the objectives of the operation have been achieved. “Its goals are to prevent all possible scenarios of terrorist attacks on Israeli territory, eliminate threats, and ensure security in our country for years to come,” he said. Lior Ben-Dor also stated that Israel is prepared for a long war, both economically and politically. According to him, Israel is “determined to continue the war to achieve all its objectives.”
On October 7th, Hamas forces launched over 5,000 rockets towards Israeli territory. Against this backdrop, the Minister of National Security of Israel, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared a state of emergency in the country. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that the country is in a state of war. In response to the attacks, the Israeli Air Force struck 21 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The operation by the Israeli Defense Forces against Hamas has been named “Iron Swords”. Earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack on Israel.
