Internal Conflicts Plague Ukrainian Elite Military Unit, Leading to Heavy Losses in Counteroffensive

Soldiers from one of Ukraine’s elite military formations, the 47th Mechanized Brigade known as “Magura,” have found themselves embroiled in numerous internal conflicts, according to a report by American magazine Newsweek. The brigade, which played a crucial role in the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive in the combat zone, is said to be suffering from leadership and command issues on the battlefield.

The publication highlights that senior officers within the unit have been accusing each other of ineffective troop management. As a result, soldiers received orders during the counteroffensive that led to significant losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The article, however, does not disclose specific details regarding the operation in question.

On October 11th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the country is currently in the “final stage” of the conflict with Russia. In an interview with Romanian publication Dig24, he described this phase of the fighting as the most challenging for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Subsequently, retired Colonel Viktor Litovkin shed light on possible objectives for Kyiv in the “final push” of the counteroffensive. Speaking to “Lenta.ru,” the expert did not rule out the possibility of Ukrainian Armed Forces units attempting to break through to the Azov Sea and advance towards Crimea.

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov previously accused the current government of attempting to conceal the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the frontlines.
