Man Charged with Murder in Connection to 3-Year-Old Girl’s Death on Christmas Day

A tragic incident unfolded on Christmas Day as a 3-year-old girl lost her life, leading to the arrest of a man on murder charges. Tyler Witham-Jordan, a 29-year-old resident of Edgecomb, Maine, was taken into custody on Friday in relation to the death of Makinzlee Handrahan, according to Maine State Police. The authorities received a distressing 911 call on the morning of December 25, 2022, reporting that the child was not breathing. Tragically, the girl was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The medical examiner’s office in Augusta has classified the death as a homicide; however, the specific cause of death is currently being withheld by the police. Witham-Jordan was the boyfriend of Makinzlee’s mother at the time of the incident, as stated by the police. He has been detained in Wicasset and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

James Howaniec, the attorney representing Witham-Jordan, provided limited information to The Associated Press, stating that he anticipates his client’s court appearance but had no further details available.
