Ted Cruz Blames Biden Administration for Worsening Border Crisis, Calls for Change in Leadership

Texas Senator Ted Cruz has expressed his concerns regarding the ongoing migrant crisis at the southern border and believes that the only way to solve this issue is through a new president who will uphold the law. In an interview with Digital, Cruz criticized the Biden administration’s approach, describing it as “lawless.” The crisis has reached record highs, with over 260,000 migrant encounters in September alone. Republicans have blamed the rollback of Trump-era policies for fueling the crisis, pointing to three specific moves by the Biden administration in 2021: ending border wall construction, expanding the use of “catch-and-release,” and terminating the Remain-in-Mexico policy.

Cruz highlighted the severe consequences of the crisis for his home state of Texas, noting that the jails, hospitals, and schools are overflowing. He emphasized that the situation in border communities far exceeds the numbers seen in cities like New York, with Eagle Pass, Texas, experiencing 4,000 migrant encounters in a single day. Cruz questioned the administration’s response to the crisis, stating that if 110,000 migrants are considered a crisis, what would over a million be?

The Biden administration has consistently denied that its policies are to blame for the ongoing crisis. Officials argue that they are dealing with a Hemisphere-wide challenge and that their approach of expanding lawful migration pathways, addressing root causes, and reinstating consequences for illegal entry is effective. They also claim to have increased the number of returns since the ending of Title 42, surpassing the figures from the same period in 2019.

While the administration calls for more funding and comprehensive immigration reform legislation, Republicans have introduced their own border security and asylum overhaul, which has already passed in the House. Cruz introduced the Senate version of this legislation and urges Congress to pass it immediately. He also suggests that instead of releasing migrants into the interior, the administration should prioritize deportations. However, Cruz doubts that this will occur, arguing that the Biden administration has been more radical on immigration than even the Obama administration.

Cruz criticized President Biden for ignoring and defying the law, stating that this unprecedented behavior, combined with a complicit media, enables the continuation and worsening of the crisis. He believes that as long as the current administration remains in power, the situation will only deteriorate further.

In conclusion, Senator Ted Cruz has blamed the Biden administration for the escalating border crisis and called for a change in leadership to address the issue. He highlights the consequences faced by border communities in Texas and argues that the administration’s policies have contributed to the crisis. While the Biden administration denies responsibility, Cruz emphasizes the urgent need for action and proposes his own legislation as a solution. He criticizes Biden’s disregard for the law and predicts that the crisis will continue to worsen unless there is a change in leadership.
