The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched retaliatory strikes on Lebanese territory following shelling incidents. The IDF’s official Twitter account confirmed the attacks, stating that “the IDF’s artillery is currently striking an area in Lebanon from where gunfire was directed towards Israeli territory a few minutes ago.” The statement also emphasized that the Israeli army is prepared for any further developments.
On the morning of October 8th, it was reported that the number of casualties and hospitalizations in Israel has risen to 1,864 amidst the escalation. The information was shared by the country’s Ministry of Health, as reported by the Times of Israel.
In response to the escalating conflict with Palestine, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has announced an increase in its presence along the Israel-Lebanon border. Andrea Tenenti, the official spokesperson for UNIFIL, highlighted the use of radar systems to detect any missiles that may be launched during the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
