Hamas Launches Major Rocket Attack on Israeli City, Escalating Tensions

The military wing of the Palestinian movement Hamas, known as the Al-Qassam Brigades, has claimed responsibility for launching a hundred rockets towards the Israeli city of Sderot, according to reports from RIA Novosti. This attack comes in response to the shelling of shelters by Israeli forces.

Earlier, Israel compared Hamas’ attack to the September 11 terrorist attacks. On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, declaring the start of their operation, “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” In light of these events, Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, declared a state of emergency in the country. Prime Minister Netanyahu also announced that the nation is in a state of war. The Israeli Defense Forces’ operation against Hamas has been named “Iron Swords.” In response to the shelling, Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on 21 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, Israel has requested assistance in the release of its captive citizens.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has escalated tensions in the region, with both sides engaging in acts of violence. The situation remains fluid, and international attention is focused on finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
