The military wing of the Palestinian movement Hamas, known as the Al-Qassam Brigades, has announced that its fighters are continuing to engage in intense battles on Israeli territory. This statement was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the wing’s announcement. The fighting is said to be taking place in the areas of Ofakim, Sderot, Yad Mordechai, Kfar Aza, Beeri-Weitz, and Kissufim. The Al-Qassam Brigades have confirmed that their artillery units from the Gaza Strip are providing support to the fighters.
Earlier, Haaretz reported that the number of Hamas militants who infiltrated Israeli territory in the morning could range from 200 to 300 individuals. According to an Israeli police officer, dozens of these fighters may still be hiding within Israeli territory. On October 7, the military wing of Hamas announced that it had launched strikes on more than 50 Israeli military positions. On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson stated that terrorists from the Gaza Strip had infiltrated border areas of Israel following a massive rocket barrage from the enclave.
Hamas militants have fired rockets at Israeli cities along the border and in the Tel Aviv area. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant declared that the Palestinian radical Islamist movement had declared war on his country. In response, the defense minister announced a mass mobilization of reservists in the country. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had vowed to destroy Hamas.
