In a recent development, the Ukrainian Armed Forces made a second attempt to attack Russian targets on the evening with a missile from the S-200 air defense system, modified for offensive purposes. However, the missile was successfully intercepted in the air, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry stated, “Around 10:00 PM Moscow time, the Kiev regime attempted a terrorist attack on the territory of the Republic of Crimea with a surface-to-air missile from the S-200 air defense system, modified for offensive purposes.” They further clarified that the missile was promptly detected and destroyed in mid-air.
This incident marks the second attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Crimea in the same evening. The first attempt took place around 6:00 PM Moscow time when Ukrainian forces also tried to strike using a modified offensive version of the S-200 missile. However, this missile was also detected and destroyed in the air.
As a result of these incidents, vehicular traffic on the Crimean Bridge was temporarily halted. Earlier, Crimea-based political analyst Denis Barutin suggested that Ukrainian troops may attempt another strike on the Crimean Bridge in the near future to commemorate the anniversary of the bridge’s sabotage on October 8, 2022. This insight provides additional context to the situation.
It is worth noting that psychological support will continue to be provided to the young girl who was orphaned due to the explosion on the Crimean Bridge, as previously reported.
