Russian Defense Minister Posthumously Awards Hero of Russia Title to Soldier Killed in Ukraine Conflict

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia to Dmitry Egorov, a private in the 155th Separate Guards Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet. This announcement was made by the Russian Ministry of Defense’s press service.

According to the information provided, Private Egorov, known by his callsign “Suntar,” was part of a unit near the settlement of Novomayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic when he encountered Ukrainian army fighters. Egorov was among the first to engage in combat with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and successfully eliminated a portion of the enemy’s assault group.

During the battle, the soldier sustained severe injuries and did not survive. In recognition of his bravery, Dmitry Egorov, known as “Suntar,” has been posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

Prior to this, Minister Shoygu awarded Orders of Courage to female military personnel who successfully repelled a drone attack in Sevastopol. The minister expressed his gratitude to all servicemen and servicewomen for their exemplary performance of their duties.
