Israeli Conflict with Hamas Threatens Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Leadership

The ongoing military conflict between Israel and the Hamas movement could potentially lead to the resignation of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to expert Alexander Kargin, who specializes in Israel and the Middle East. Kargin referred to the events that took place on Saturday, October 7th, as a “bloody Sabbath.” He described the situation as unique for Israel, as the country is suffering significant losses. Numerous videos and photos have emerged showing captured Israelis being mistreated, with indications that many of the captives are women. Remarkably, these events coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur War, during which Israel was caught off guard. This situation represents a complete failure of Israel’s security services and its esteemed intelligence agency. In Israel, this is already being referred to as the “bloody Sabbath.” Hamas militants have seized a portion of Israeli territory and continue to hold it, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency. All religious Jews have been urged to cease observing the Sabbath and arm themselves. These developments highlight the extreme seriousness of the situation. Regardless of how this war concludes, it will likely result in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation. Fifty years ago, Golda Meir resigned following the Yom Kippur War, during which she also failed to anticipate the attack, said the expert.

Kargin is confident that Israel will gather its strength and defeat Hamas. However, this instance of group aggression may serve as a signal to other representatives of the Arab world. The weakness displayed by Israel has become evident to all. Weakness is considered the ultimate sin in the Middle East and is not forgiven. If Israel fails to repel Hamas in the near future, some of Israel’s neighboring countries may be tempted to join the war. In that case, the situation could become critical. Even Golda Meir once said, “Israel does not possess nuclear weapons, but if necessary, it will use them.” This poses a significant danger not only to the region but to the entire world, emphasized the Middle East expert.

Furthermore, he added that the main goal of the attack on Israel is an attempt to disrupt the peace negotiations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Since the morning of October 7th, Israeli territory has been under attack from the Gaza Strip. The country’s Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, stated that Hamas has declared war on Israel and called for the mobilization of reservists. Earlier, the Russian State Duma discussed the possibility of Russia influencing the Arab-Israeli conflict.
