Israeli Army Regains Control of Majority of Settlements on Gaza Border

The Israeli army has announced that it has regained control of the majority of settlements on the southern border with the Gaza Strip. This development comes after militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad (an organization banned in Russia) infiltrated these settlements on Saturday, according to Haaretz, as reported by RIA Novosti.

A representative of the Israeli military stated that they have restored control over Sderot, Sofu, Nirim, Nir Oz, and around ten other settlements. Prior to this, the Israeli Armed Forces had already regained control of the Re’im military base located in the south of the country.

On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, declaring the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Minister of National Security of Israel, declared a state of emergency within the country on the same day. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that the country is in a state of war. The Israeli Defense Forces’ operation against Hamas has been named “Iron Swords.”

Earlier, the Israeli police had predicted the duration of the conflict escalation.
