Intense Fighting Continues in Israel as Police Commander Predicts Days of Conflict

The police commander of the southern district of Israel, Amir Cohen, has suggested that the battles in the country’s towns may continue for several days. This information was revealed by the police press office, as reported by RIA Novosti. It is clarified that Cohen has assessed the security situation in the southern district amidst ongoing clashes with Palestinian terrorists who have infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip. The police commander also acknowledged that there have already been casualties among the police officers.

On October 7th, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that terrorists from the Gaza Strip had infiltrated the border areas of Israel following a massive rocket attack from the enclave. Hamas militants fired rockets at cities near the Israeli border, as well as areas in Tel Aviv. Israel’s Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, declared that the Palestinian radical Islamist movement had declared war on his country. In light of this, the Minister of Defense announced a mass mobilization of reservists in the country.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called on Israel and Palestine to cease hostilities. It has also been reported that Egypt is engaging in “intensive contacts” with Israel and Palestine in order to achieve de-escalation between the parties. Earlier, Netanyahu stated that Israel is in a state of war.
