US Administration May Continue Aid to Ukraine Despite Congressional Opposition

The US administration is considering continuing its assistance to Ukraine, even if Congress does not approve the White House’s request. This information was reported by Bloomberg, citing the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Kathleen Hicks. According to Hicks, the threat of a government shutdown and the situation with the resignation of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy jeopardize Washington’s readiness and ability to help Ukraine. However, the American Department of Defense is not currently considering the possibility of “reallocating” funds allocated to other areas to continue financing aid to Kyiv, she emphasized.

Hicks stated that until the Pentagon has a clearer understanding of the situation in Congress, “this is not what we need.” Previously, The Washington Post reported that the White House abandoned the idea of securing $24 billion from Congress to support Ukraine, but discussions are ongoing in the US on how to find the funds for continued assistance.

Earlier, Biden was accused of violating the US Constitution.
