Russian Soldier Faces Trial for State Treason in Closed Court

A case against Russian serviceman Alan Boriev, accused of state treason, will be heard by the Southern Military District Court. This information was reported by law enforcement agencies to TASS. Alan Boriev, born in 1998, is charged with committing a crime under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (state treason), which carries a potential punishment of lifelong imprisonment. The case has been referred to the Southern Military District Court for further examination.

Details of the serious crime committed by the serviceman have not been disclosed. The case will be heard in a closed court without access to the media and the public, as it contains classified materials. On October 4th, the Southern Military District Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a Crimean resident accused of attempted treason. During the trial, the defendant expressed remorse for his actions and was sentenced to eight years in prison, despite the prosecution’s insistence on a twelve-year sentence.

Previously, a Ukrainian sailor was accused of treason for not returning the only submarine.
