Multiple People Shot in Downtown Holyoke Altercation

Multiple people, including a bus passenger, were shot at a downtown intersection in Holyoke, Massachusetts, following an altercation among a group of people. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4. Massachusetts State Police (MSP) received multiple reports of gunshots near an intersection in Holyoke around 12:44 p.m. The victims, who suffered from gunshot wounds, were immediately transported to local hospitals. The exact number of victims has not been disclosed.

According to a preliminary investigation, the shooting was a result of an altercation among a group of individuals. Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia’s office confirmed that the mayor was aware of the incident and stated that the police investigation is active and ongoing.

Holyoke police have urged residents to avoid the area while officers continue to investigate the scene. As of 5 p.m., there was no information available regarding the suspect(s) or the conditions of the victims.
