The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, has reported an incident of shelling in the town of Shebekino, within the Shebekino city district. He shared this information on his Telegram channel. Fortunately, there were no casualties as a result of the shelling.
According to Gladkov, one of the shells hit a private residential house, while the windows, facades, and roofs of four other houses were damaged. In addition, the power transmission line and a bus were also affected. The governor of Belgorod stated that emergency services are currently at the scene, and a survey of the area is ongoing.
Prior to this incident, Gladkov had reported that an administrative building in Belgorod had been damaged by fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Furthermore, fragments from the destruction of targets by the air defense system had damaged a private house and three cars in the village of Shishino.
The air defense system was activated during the night over Belgorod, successfully intercepting around 19 objects. The extent of the damage caused by the falling drone fragments is currently being assessed.
Previously, a new drone suppression system was developed in Russia. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by drones and the need for effective countermeasures.
