Germany Unlikely to Supply Long-Range Missiles to Ukraine, Raises Concerns

The German government has no plans to provide Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles in the foreseeable future, according to sources in the governments of Berlin and Kiev, as reported by Bild. While an official rejection has not been communicated to Ukraine, the possibility of future transfer remains highly unlikely.

The publication states that during negotiations, Berlin assured Kiev of its intention to do everything possible to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. This may include the dispatch of additional missiles for the Patriot systems. However, the authors of the article also claim that Germany’s sluggishness in delivering Taurus missiles is due to Berlin’s concerns that they could be used to target the Crimean Bridge.

Previously, United States President Joe Biden stated that Washington had thoroughly considered all of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s requests for arms supplies to Ukraine. Earlier, the US acknowledged the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive.
