Belarus Begins Mobilization Readiness Exercises, Raising Concerns

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus has announced the commencement of mobilization readiness exercises, according to a press release from the Belarusian military department cited by RIA Novosti. The exercises will include theoretical and practical activities involving officials from executive committees, military commissariats, and mobilization resource reception administrations in all administrative districts.

Scheduled to take place from October 3rd to 6th, the main objective of these exercises is to enhance the level of preparedness for territorial defense, which would serve as a supplement to the regular Belarusian army in the event of a military conflict. This announcement comes after joint exercises called “Shield of the Union” were recently conducted in Russia with the participation of Belarus.

Typically, these exercises involve all elements of the state’s military organization, including territorial defense. In the recent exercises, the people’s militia also played a role. Earlier, measures were discussed in the Federation Council in response to large-scale NATO military exercises.
