The frontline in Ukraine stretches for over a thousand kilometers, and despite mobilization, the Ukrainian armed forces lack the manpower and resources on all fronts. Military expert Vasily Dandikin, in an interview with “Izvestia” newspaper, explained that this factor contributes to significant losses for the Ukrainian army. He commented on the information about the transfer of Ukrainian forces to the Klescheevka and Artemovsk areas, which previously advanced in the Verbov and Rabotino areas. According to the expert, Ukrainian armed formations have suffered the greatest losses in the Donetsk direction, up to a battalion per day. They are unable to achieve success in the Klescheevka area, while the Russian Armed Forces are only strengthening their positions on all fronts.
Currently, new units and formations are being created, and servicemen are undergoing training under the guidance of experienced specialists. Many people are signing contracts, with 325,000 individuals already having signed such agreements. “This makes the enemy nervous and sometimes leads them to make rash decisions, which is advantageous for us. For example, they are transferring their units from one direction to another and back,” the expert pointed out in a conversation with journalists.
Furthermore, Dandikin noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be able to break through to Tokmak. On the Zaporizhia direction, emphasized the specialist, every meter counts as a victory for them, not to mention kilometers. Currently, the US has suspended financial assistance for 45 days, and for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, every day matters. All of this indicates that they are gradually shifting to a defensive tactic, concluded Vasily Dandikin.
During the two days of the special operation – September 30th and October 1st – Ukrainian armed formations lost over 1,025 individuals and 76 units of equipment, including tanks, artillery, and armored vehicles, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Earlier, the US recognized the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive.
