The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that Russian helicopters Ka-52 and Su-25SM jets have launched attacks on Ukrainian positions in the Krasnolimansk direction. It is noted that the strikes were coordinated by an aviation spotter from the Central Military District, who promptly relayed the target coordinates to the pilots and confirmed hits on them. This development comes after Business Insider reported that the Ka-52 attack helicopter and the “Lancelet” drone are lethal weapons in the Russian arsenal. The authors of the article emphasized that the Ka-52 helicopter is considered one of the best and most maneuverable attack helicopters in the world. “The Ka-52 is capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour and is equipped with a 30mm aviation cannon,” the article states.
However, the publication also highlighted that these helicopters have become a thorn in the side of the Ukrainian army during its counteroffensive. The extensive minefields pose an additional danger to the Ukrainian soldiers, often forcing them to abandon the equipment received from Western partners and continue on foot in the combat zone. Earlier, the US identified this as one of the greatest threats to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
