The Russian Ministry of Defense has reported that on the morning of October 2nd, Russian air defense forces successfully shot down a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over a Russian region, according to a statement released by the ministry’s press service on Telegram. The drone was destroyed over the Belgorod region of Russia. Just minutes earlier on the same day, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the Governor of the Belgorod region, announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had shelled the village of Kozinka in the Grayvoron city district.
On October 1st, three Russian regions were targeted in Ukrainian attacks. Five drones were shot down in the sky over the Smolensk region, while one drone was destroyed in the Krasnodar region. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, three individuals were injured as a result of artillery shelling in Shebekino, located in the Belgorod region. The region also attempted to attack a UAV, but it was successfully neutralized by air defense systems.
Earlier, Russia developed a new drone suppression system to counter such threats.
