Azerbaijan Denies Armenian Claims of Shelling Food Convoy

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has refuted the claims made by the Armenian Defense Ministry about an attack on a food convoy destined for Armenian military personnel in the Zerkend Basarkechyar district. According to TASS, the Azerbaijani side stated that the information spread by the opposing party is completely false and categorically denied it.

On October 2nd, the Armenian Ministry of Defense alleged that the armed forces of Azerbaijan had targeted a vehicle transporting food for Armenian troops stationed near the village of Kuta, along the border of the two countries.

It is important to note that on September 19th, the authorities of Azerbaijan announced a local operation in Karabakh. Baku’s objective for the operation was to suppress “large-scale provocations,” disarm and withdraw Armenian army units from the region.

After 24 hours, with the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, an agreement on a ceasefire was reached between the two sides. On September 28th, the head of Nagorno-Karabakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree that would dissolve the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh by January 1st, 2024.

Previously, Azerbaijan had issued a search warrant for 300 officials from Karabakh.
