Ukraine’s Government at Risk as Russia Exerts Military Pressure, Says Former US Intelligence Officer

Former American intelligence officer Scott Ritter has warned that Ukraine’s government could collapse under the military pressure from Russia, especially considering the weakened state of the Ukrainian army. In an interview with blogger Cyrus Janssen, Ritter stated, “Russia doesn’t need to go all in. On the contrary, it should gradually exert military pressure on Ukraine, thereby provoking a political collapse in the country. This will prolong the conflict, but the desired outcome will be achieved.”

Ritter further emphasized that the Ukrainian forces have already been completely defeated and practically ceased to exist as a factor on the battlefield. On October 1, Ritter also asserted that the German government should feel guilty for providing military assistance to the Ukrainian army, highlighting Germany’s failure to fully distance itself from its Nazi past as a bitter truth.

In a previous statement, Ritter drew attention to the serious problems in Ukraine, pointing to the uncertain remarks made by Ukrainian leader’s wife, Elena Zelenska, suggesting that her husband may not seek re-election. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky himself stated that he would not abandon the country if he is confident that the elections next year will take place. He noted that while elections cannot be held during a state of war, it is possible to amend legislation.

Earlier, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, dismissed negotiations with Ukraine as pointless.
