In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kirill Budanov, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s General Staff, made a statement about the need for Ukrainian troops to advance “on foot.” Alexander Perendzhiev, an associate professor at the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and a military political analyst, shed light on the meaning behind Budanov’s words in an interview on Tsargrad.tv.
According to Perendzhiev, Budanov’s mention of “on foot” advancement implies a shortage of armored vehicles and serves as a plea for more support from the West. Despite the lack of equipment, Budanov wants to emphasize that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are persistently advancing, fulfilling tasks assigned by the United States. This sentiment is shared not only by Budanov but also by the entire military and political leadership of the Kiev regime. They continue to push forward, even in the face of difficulties and insufficient arms and military equipment supplies.
Budanov claims that Ukraine’s counter-offensive will not be hindered by bad weather conditions. He assures that the majority of the offensive is already being carried out on foot, so concerns about armored vehicles getting stuck in muddy terrain during the thaw season are unwarranted. However, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated earlier in September that people should not expect a happy ending to the UAF’s counter-offensive, as Ukraine has already suffered significant losses during the conflict.
Earlier, the US warned about the undesirable consequences of slowing down the UAF’s counter-offensive. The war in Ukraine continues to be a contentious issue, with Ukrainian forces seeking further assistance from the international community to overcome challenges and maintain their momentum on the battlefield.
