Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a Ukrainian military drone in the sky above Belgorod, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The incident occurred on September 28th at approximately 17:00 Moscow time, when the Kiev regime attempted a terrorist attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on Russian territory. The defense ministry’s statement highlighted the prevention of this attack.
Earlier reports mentioned that a Russian air defense system had shot down a drone of aircraft origin approaching Belgorod. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that there were no casualties or damages, based on preliminary information. Gladkov added that the authorities were gathering information on the ground to assess any potential consequences.
On September 26th, local authorities in Belgorod reported mortar shelling from the Ukrainian Armed Forces towards the village of Novostroevka-Second in the Gryazovets District of the Belgorod Region. One private residence sustained damage, including its roof, facade, windows, and fence, due to shrapnel impact.
Prior to this, the governor of the Belgorod Region had announced an attack on Novaya Tavolzhanka, stating that the village was hit by Ukrainian forces, resulting in damage to the power supply line.
It is worth noting that Russia has recently developed a new drone suppression system to counter such threats.
