In a recent development, the authorities of the Belgorod region have refuted claims that a Ukrainian diversionary-reconnaissance group (DRG) infiltrated their territory. The regional press service, Oprishtab, took to their Telegram channel to dismiss the reports, stating, “There has been widespread information suggesting that a DRG made an incursion near the populated areas of Staroselye and Terebreno. However, no such incursion has taken place.”
The press service further clarified that border guards and representatives from other security forces engaged in combat along the demarcation line. Additionally, they debunked claims of any evacuation of residents from the village of Terebreno.
Earlier, the Telegram channel Shot reported that a Ukrainian DRG attempted to breach the Belgorod region. On September 21, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation had neutralized a diversionary-reconnaissance group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on Pereyaslav Island in the Kherson region.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have targeted a base where UAF’s diversionary groups received training.
This incident adds to the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides accusing each other of aggression and violations of territorial integrity. The conflict in Ukraine has been a contentious issue, with the United States and NATO supporting Ukraine, while Russia claims it is defending its interests and ethnic Russians in the region.
