In a recent development in the ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine, the artillery forces of the Russian military group “Zapad” have reportedly destroyed a Ukrainian military base and three mortar positions in the Kupyansk direction. Sergey Zybinsky, the spokesperson for the group, revealed to TASS that the self-propelled artillery unit 2S1 “Gvozdika,” three mortar squads, and a military base in the areas of Krakhmalnoye, Kurilovka, Kislavka, and Petrovka were successfully eliminated.
According to Zybinsky, the overall casualties for the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) amounted to approximately a company-sized unit. Furthermore, the air defense forces of the Russian group reportedly used the Tor anti-aircraft missile system to destroy two drones, named “Sinitsa” and “Fury,” in the Golikovo, Novoukolnoye, and Veliky Vyselok areas. Additionally, the Valkyrie drone was reportedly destroyed by the Igla portable anti-aircraft missile system.
It is important to note that the command center of the Belgorod region previously refuted claims that a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group (DRG) had infiltrated the region, contradicting earlier reports. The Ministry of Defense of Russia had announced earlier that they had targeted a training base for Ukrainian DRGs.
