Israeli Ambassador Detained for Protesting Iranian President’s Speech: Calls Out U.N.’s Lost Moral Compass

Gilad Erdan, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, was briefly detained by security personnel after he protested a speech given by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Erdan held up a picture of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian woman who was murdered by Iran’s morality police for not wearing her hijab properly. He accused the U.N. of having a lost moral compass and criticized the organization for giving a platform to Raisi, whom he referred to as a “vile mass murderer.” Erdan stated that he will always stand up for what is right and just, despite the bias that Israel faces at the U.N.

Raisi’s presence at the U.N. General Assembly drew protesters, and Erdan claimed that the U.N. had reached a new moral low by respecting a “butcher” like Raisi. He called on the international community to wake up and help the Iranian people, who are suffering under his regime. Erdan accused the U.N. of hypocrisy and moral distortion, stating that the organization was founded to prevent atrocities but was now giving a platform to a mass murderer who denies the Holocaust and threatens to annihilate the Jewish people.

Erdan wanted to draw attention to the struggle of Iranian women and show solidarity with the Iranian people, emphasizing that Israel is not their enemy and wants to live in peace with them. He criticized Raisi’s speech, in which he blamed the United States for instability in the world. Raisi had been previously sanctioned by former President Trump for his role in the massacre of Iranian political prisoners and the regime’s slaughter of Iranian demonstrators.

It is clear that Erdan strongly opposes Raisi and the U.N.’s actions, believing that they are not in line with moral principles and the best interests of the Iranian people.
